Which are the best and easiest ways to stay hydrated during summer? What do you think?
Summer is everyone’s favourite season. It’s when we go out more and wear less, when we drink cold drinks and when simply life it self gets better. There’s only one thing we “complain” about: the heat.
In summer it’s easy to be hit by dehydration and most people don’t see it coming. Staying well-hydrated is always important, especially in the summer months when the temperature rises and our perspiration (sweating) increases. Summer is prime time for dehydration, electrolyte imbalances and even heat stroke. But, you don’t need to worry because there are lots of ways which you can stay hydrated this summer. Here are some tips…
The most essential nutrient is water. Water is the most important, and often the most forgotten nutrient. Water is the solvent for important biochemical reactions, supplying nutrients and removing waste. It is essential for maintaining blood circulation throughout your body. It’s the maintainer of body temperature. We all know that we can last for some time without food, but only days without water. So, don’t forget to start and end your day with a 250 ml serving of water. Your body loses water while you sleep, so drink a serving before bed and again when you wake up.
You are what you eat, so eat wisely. Everything you eat has a particular effect on you.Your food choices can account for approximately 20 percent of your daily fluid intake, and are therefore a major contributor to you and your family’s overall hydration status. Luckily, there are so many food that are naturally rich in water carbohydrates and minerals, such as watermelon, tomatoes and strawberries. Infusing water with fresh fruit and vegetables like cucumber can give your ordinary bottle of water an extraordinary and healthy dose of flavour. Get some water through food!
Stay hydrated & enjoy your summer!
